I don’t do skincare. Or at least I didn’t use to.
But around April, that kind of changed.
After being on Instagram and looking at a skincare influencer talk about her beauty regime, I looked over at Silas (my husband), and said, “You know, someday it would be nice to just have a bunch of nice things for my skin and put them on throughout the day and just feed my skin good stuff.” Or something like that.
And you know what? He basically told me to get out of the house… and head to the nearest beauty store.
To be honest, I’m not really good at taking care of myself; I was never taught that growing up. But my husband understands it a lot better than I do and so he’s been actually pushing me to go after this.
And so I went out into the humid Taiwan air and walked to The Body Shop (not sponsored) and got some incredible products.
It was kind of scary because I don’t spend THAT much money on myself usually.
I tend to buy myself jeans and t-shirts (which I’ve also been changing lately), and wash my face with hand soap (yikes). But now, that’s starting to change.
And so, I am now going to share with you some of the products from The Body Shop (and other places!) that I’m really liking. π
Real quick before you Start! Make sure to check out my post on the 12 Super Helpful Tips Iβve Learned in My Skincare Journey. This is a REALLY helpul post to pair with these skincare products down below.
They’ll help you make the most out of them. π
LilyAna Naturals Retinol Cream
I noticed INSTANT results with this one.
I’ve only been using it for around a week, but my skin feels so much softer and my color seems to be a bit more even.
Retinol is a vitamin A derivative and is known for helping you reverse sun damage and wrinkles and all around, just something your skin likes.
I personally got it from Amazon and you can too here. π
Side Note: If YOU personally have any favorite skincare products that you like or love, then feel free to tell me in the comments down below. I’d love to hear about them. π
Bioderma Sebium Lotion Toner
Toner is definitely neccessary for your skin. It helps balance your skin PH levels, gets rid of any dirt that’s leftover from washing your face, and helps your skin better absorb the nutrients that you get from other skincare products.
And I REALLY like this one! I noticed I was having less breakouts as I started to use it more regularly and my complexion improved.
Now for some reason, I didn’t take a picture of this one, but you can easily get it here.
Raw Honey Mask
Raw honey is SUPER good for your skin and helps you manage breakouts and inflammation. And everynight, I put on a honey mask for around 30 minutes (or longer – sometimes I’d forget it was on my face).
I never noticed a breakout from it and it always seemed to make my skin more clear nad soft. π
Just make sure to get raw honey, not regular, as this is the kind that will really benefit your skin.
Sheet Masks
Now after I did a raw honey mask, I did a sheet mask for 20 minutes.
This is also great for helping your skin soak in great nutrients for a short amount of time.
I got mine from the local Taiwanese 7-Eleven (7-Eleven’s in Asia are acutally REALLY nice!), but you can get this exact same brand on Amazon.
The one I link to here is the same brand but a different kind (aloe vera), but I’ve personally used these ones too and liked them a lot. π
Now Onto The Body Shop Products
Roots of Strength – Firming Shaping Essence Lotion
Now, essence isn’t necessary for your skin, but it still does a lot of good to it!
It’s a concentrated formula of different ingredients that soaks your skin with great nuntrients.
And I really liked this one since it had a great scent to it and wasn’t heavy on the skin. It’s a type of lotion but feels more like a toner. It claims to be firming and shaping and my husband can personally attest to this. He even started to see results before I did after just a week of using it.
Oils of Life – Inensely Revitalizing Eye Cream
Eye cream doesn’t take away dark circles and wrinkles all together, but if you do have them, it helps, and if you don’t yet, it helps keep them away for longer.
So no, it’s not a magic serum, but it definitely does help! π
And this one is a great eye cream; it has a great scent, a pretty gold shimmer, and really helped moisturize the skin around my eyes.
Vitamin E – Skin Cooling Gel Mist
A mist makes it sound like you can just spray it right on the face, but this is more of a liquid that you want to spray on your hands first and then pat onto your face.
It’s honestly really refreshing (especially on a hot day) and great for moisturization.
Also, Vitamin E is known for helping to fade scars and healing, so I think this makes it pretty neccessary for your skincare regime.
Carrot Cream
I like this one a lot because it actually does smell a bit like carrots. Not in a gross way though! More like you’re walking in a garden with freshly pulled carrots… or something like that. It just smells really fresh, take my word for it.
Anyway, it’s a heavier cream, but I didn’t notice my skin breaking out when I did use it and it was great for moisturization which is essential for keeping wrinkles at bay.
PLUS! It also has vitamin A in it which is also great for keeping that youthful look. π
British Rose Body Butter
I mostly just used this for my body, not really my face, but you should still ge it!
It has an awesome soft rose scent to it and makes your skin feel super smooth, so this is definitely a win in my book!
Nicaraguan Coffee – Intense Awakening Mask
Scrubs are totally essential for your beauty plan; they help take off the dead skin cells and speed up the skill cell turnover process. Basically, it helps lessen wrinkles (woohoo!).
And since I really like coffee and I’ve heard of its benefits for your skin, I decided, hey, why not!
Just make sure you only do it once a week since using scrubs on your skin too much can damage it.
Alright, that’s it! I could go on and on about other products I’ve used, but these are the ones I’ve used the most. So definitely check these out and let me know what you think!
Also, like I said above, if you have any skincare products that YOU personally like, then feel free to tell me in the comments down below. I’d love to hear about them. π
Chasing Foxes was started in 2016 as a way for Grace and her husband, Silas, to start traveling. However, they started to realize that they had a passion for improving themselves, and wanted to help others level up their lives as well. So whether it's with cooking, travel, or staying healthy, they want to help you better your life bit by bit, as they do the same.
It has been an absolute pleasure to read!
I have some problems with my skin so I’ll definitely try some new products from your post.
I’m so glad to hear my tips and ideas helped you out! π
Hands down the Body Shop Oils of Life Eye Cream-Gel is a keeper, love it! But honestly, I am a sucker for all things Body Shop. I will have to try their Coffee Mask, it sounds amazing. If you havenβt tried it their Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Mask feels very cleansing and will make your skin tingle.
Oh cool! Thanks for the recommendation! π
