What I’m looking for in a vacation is a really good view, great weather, try-worthy activities, and a lot less crowds.
And if these are your priorities too, then a Greek island getaway or any scenic island travel destination is probably what you wanna go for.
They’re perfect for relaxing and taking in whole new scenery.
But since there are millions of islands, it’s not gonna be possible to see them all.
And that’s why we made a list of some of the most beautiful island destinations that should be on your bucket list (like how they are for me).
So here are 12 locations that look like paradise but are available on earth. Visit a few and let me know what you personally think!
Mauritius
My personal favorite island destination recommendation and I will never stop talking about it!
It’s a country in the far south of the Indian Ocean with incredible sunsets that last a ridiculously long time, beautiful beaches and resorts, and incredible natural wonders.
And on top of that, you have people coming from India, China, France, South Africa, and many other countries which means the food is always good. 👌
Just make sure to go in the off season (May to September) since the weather is perfect.
Koh Hong
Koh Hong is on the coastline of Krabi. It’s a part of Than Bok Khorani National Park which is permitted for day visits only.
Here, no overnight stay is allowed.
This beautiful island has incredible scenery and you can try different activities with your friend like fishing, hiking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, picnicking, and scuba diving.
Or just relax on the sand and swim, up to you. 🤷♀️
Naxos
This Aegean Sea destination in Greece is considered to be the largest among the Cyclades.
And I’m gonna be honest, if I went to Naxos, I’d probably never feel like leaving.
Known as the ‘green leaf’ of the Aegean Sea, Naxos has historical seaside villages, local goods, and great-looking food.
I’d say it’s definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for a good Greek holiday destination!
Maldives
This sovereign state of South Asia is located in the Arabian Sea and will always be known for its incredible beaches and overwater bungalows.
Also, if you love water sports, Maldives has an great climate for sports like kiteboarding, windsurfing, snorkeling, swimming, water-skiing and several others.
It honestly seems like a great family holiday destination with the sun-soaked beaches and crystal clear waters.
Nevis
Saint Kitts and Nevis comprise a very small nation in the Caribbean, and Nevis is a smaller island among these two.
Being a very beautiful spot that a lot of people love visiting, Nevis is one of the best places to try in the Caribbean for its incredible views of the sea.
Mykonos
Mykonos is a highly visited Greek island destination that people take ferry routes to once arriving in Athens.
Its alluring beaches, hospitable people, party atmosphere and fantastic weather attracts both foreigners and locals.
Angel Island
Angel Island is a rare gem in California’s San Francisco Bay. If you are looking for a romantic island gateway, then don’t miss the chance to visit Angel Island at least once in your life.
San Juan Islands
The San Juan Island is in the northwestern Washington of U.S. It has plenty of exciting water sports and delicious seafood. Apart from its incredible view, you can enjoy different things here like cozy lodgings, whale watching, biking, kayaking, farm-to-table dining, hiking, and so on. The best time for visiting San Juan is summer.
Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island is situated in South Australia. This beauty is famous for its incredible wildlife. If you are a nature lover and if you want to spot native animals and plants, then this is the place for you. It has several rare bird species, koalas, and sea lions. Don’t forget to visit Flinders Chase National Park which is also known as penguin colonies.
Easter Island
This remote volcanic island is located in Polynesia. It’s a territory of Chile. Easter Island is famous for its monumental statues, known as Morai which were created by the inhabitants from the 13th century to the 16th century.
Visit the distant historic sites and ancient ruins with colossal stone structures on your next vacation.
Capri
Capri, an island in Italy, offers visitors jaw-dropping beauty, hidden coves, fantastic cuisine and tons of shopping. The designer clothes, limoncello, and handmade leather sandals are a must-have item for all the fashion lovers. Visit Capri for its cliffside sunsets, beach clubs, boat life, food, nature walks and traditional festivals.
Crete
If you wanna do some more island hopping, then Crete should probably be on your list.
It’s one of the amazingly scenic Greek island known for its physiographic diversity, Aegean views,picturesque mountainous villages, sandy beaches, and a rocky bay.
It’s one of the favorite destinations of so many tourists and it’s a Mediterranean vacation spot that I plan on visiting soon!
