Dave Ramsey is known to be a successful businessman who is great at saving money. And here we have compiled a list of, in our opinion, his best habits and tips (that his fans follow) so that you can also aim for financial success. So check them out and see what you think!
Use Coupons
There can sometimes be a misleading stereotype that coupon use means you’re drowning in poverty, but this isn’t the case. The sensible spender will understand that a few cents saved here and there can quickly add up to healthy savings. In the short term these could be used for treats, however, in conjunction with other forms of money-saving tips, you could use the spare cash for something as big as a mortgage.
Pay with Cash
Paying with a debit or credit card can be convenient, but it also means you can’t see the reality of your spending. By taking the cash out first and only using that to spend, you can really see how much money is going where, and when you run out that’s it (no more spending).
Budget
Create a budget each month with your incoming money and outgoing spending. Obviously, certain things such as rent or bills, cannot be avoided. Others can be though. Cut down on frivolous purchases and keep an eye on how much spare money you have to avoid becoming burdened by debt. There is also no harm in including an amount to pop into a savings account in that plan!
Dave Ramsey has found that the most affluent businessmen and women read more. Their thirst for knowledge helps them learn more about saving and financial health. By reading more, the worst thing that can happen is you pick up new skills. Also, another bonus here is that while you’re reading, you aren’t out there spending money. A win-win situation!
Pay Off Debts
Just because you have money doesn’t mean it should be spent. If you do have debts, then focus on paying those off as soon as possible before they grow and become unmanageable. We know it can be difficult, but it will be well worth it in the end (think of how financially free you’ll be!)
Reflect Each Day
Taking some time each day to reflect on what you’ve done can have a positive impact on your life. It can help you become a better person and also help curb spending impulses in the future. Use each day as a lesson to help you adapt and make better choices.
Make Sacrifices
For people who have debt, it can be confusing on how to pay it off when you have other outgoing expenses. Sometimes sacrifice is necessary to clear your debts. This might involve cutting back on nights out, take out, or even reducing your mobile plan to include less data and be cheaper. Small sacrifices here and there can help expedite your debt clearance or savings, which will make you happier in the long run.
These are just some of the methods that Dave Ramsey’s fans use to maintain financial happiness, so go ahead and give them a try and see how it goes!
