You’ve probably already heard of TED talks; nonprofit events devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short talks. Each video will leave you feeling inspired and full of ideas for how you can improve and change your own life. It’s great to watch during your free time and it’ll totally make you productive.

And while there are plenty of powerful talks that you can choose from, I’ve decided to create a list of some Ted talks down below that focus on financial matters. So check them out and let me know what you think!

Financial Literacy

Basically, this talk focuses on explaining and understanding that financial literacy is a lifelong skill essential for survival. The emotions we have around money and investing helps us deal with everyday issues ourselves. Mellody Hobson notes the seriousness of being able to ‘stand on your own two feet’ and work through tough financial times, all while staying mechanical and not being risk-averse will guide you to financial freedom.

Filled with a little humor, this talk by Graham will inspire you to think of decluttering and choose to have a minimalist life. He makes the case for taking up less space and only keeping what’s important in your home and life. He urges us to ask ourselves before buying anything, do we really love that item we’re about to purchase? Is it worth the amount of money and space it will take up? And if it will last forever?

It’s easy to think that we save money for tomorrow, but how about thinking right now? Economist Shlomo stresses that we focus so much on planning and saving for our future yet forget to live in the present. He encourages us to take time to enjoy and have fun while saving. The act of balancing your investments, savings, and current needs will affect not just your finances but as well as your behavior.

This next Ted talk is perfect for all the people who are into investments and sustainability. In this informative investment case, Chris McKnett explains how there’s more to investing than just the numbers. These factors affect a lot of sustainability and promote financial success.

One of my favorites on this list, this talk is perfect for all the millennials. Meg Jay, a clinical psychologist says that the most crucial development period of our lives is in our 20s. This is the time where you lead and define your future until you’ve reached your 30s when life is ideal now for marriage, kids, and such. So while you’re still in your 20s, accept all challenges and live to the fullest.

This talk is a must-watch! Alexa a financial expert gives the talk about money, personal finances, and financial education. She explains that most of us learn about money on a trial and error basis. That you need to have an emergency fund, save for retirement, and reduce debt in order to achieve financial freedom. Whatever decisions you make right now will totally affect your future.
