I really love the idea of going home to an organized and mess-free space. I mean, seeing things in order and in a well-kept manner can make anyone feel at ease. You can easily find what you’re looking for and create more spaces. Also, your environment affects your mood and as well as your emotions. Tidying up and organizing your house may change the way you’re living.
And as you know, I’ve lived in small spaces for a while; small apartments and small Airbnb’s, so I’m really fond of being creative and organizing things.
And that’s why I decided to show you guys some awesome dollar store hacks and tips that’ll help you organize every space in your house. These are tricks that’ll maximize your storage and keep your house in order. So check them out and let me know what you think!
Clear the Clutter
If you really want to be more organized, start by clearing up your clutter. Go through your belongings and begin making piles of things to keep and most importantly, things to clear out and get rid of.
If you’re not using it, it needs to go. Donate your clothes that are still in good condition to charities and cut up the rest into rags for cleaning.
You can also recycle your old electronics at your local e-waste recycling facility, and donate kitchen items, furniture, and housewares to secondhand stores that benefit charities. Turns out you’re helping others while cleaning your home. – Anni from Hometalk has an awesome example of clearing the clutter and organizing her closet!
Organize Cleaning Supplies Under the Sink
If you want to maximize all your space, consider the area under your sink. It’s perfect storage for your cleaning supplies, and there are a few ways you can do this!
Just get a tension rod from the Dollar Store to create new space for hanging bottles or even kitchen cloths, or put your cleaning supplies in a caddy to keep them in place and easy to grab.
Create Vertical Storage
Who says you can’t use your wall or cabinet door space? By storing vertically, you can create more storage and save space.
Take full advantage of the backs of cabinet doors by installing wire racks from the Dollar Store. You can store your spices, canned goods, and other pantry items in it. I also highly suggest that you get a pegboard organizer in your kitchen. It can hold your pans, pots, utensils, and other cookware without taking up much space.
Put Like Items Together
Usually, your things can be grouped into categories according to there usage or utilization. When you’re in your kitchen, put all of your spices together, canned goods together, and baking items together in one place. There are plenty of options from the Dollar Store for organizing your spices.
Do the same for your toiletries, makeup, lotions, shaving supplies, and other bath essentials. This will save you some time and make it easier for you to get them when you need them.
Label Everything
Now, this tip is the simplest and easiest from this list yet it will help you to organize like a pro. By simply labeling your storage bins, you can quickly determine what’s in there and what to get. You’ll save so much time and effort in finding what you need.
You can either get blank sticker labels from the Dollar Store and label yourself or hop onto Pinterest to get some free printable labels that you can use for your pantry, kitchen, office supplies, or toiletry organization.
Knowing How to Store Things
After you’ve put like items together, it’s now time to determine where they go. Store each category neatly and in a way that is easily accessible. Put your pantry items in your cupboards and organize each according to how frequently they’re used.
Also, you don’t need to get fancy storage bins to get organized. Just go to the dollar store and pick a few up!
Apply One In, One Out Philosophy
Okay, so this one isn’t a tip from the dollar store, but I had to add it since it’s important. The idea just means that before buying anything new, you need to get rid of something old in order to make space for the new things. Let say for example, before you get new shoes you must clear out on of your old pair to save space. Adopting this philosophy will not just keep your home tidy and clutter-free, but help you with spending habits.
Use Bins for Your Refrigerator
Things inside your refrigerator can get easily cluttered and disorganized. And using plastic bins when storing your items can help you stay organized. Put like things together in one bin and store each category in the fridge.
You could go a step further and organize what you need for meals and then just pull out the basket when it’s time to cook. This is perfect for busy days when you don’t have much time to make meals.
Make Use of Floating Shelves
Floating shelves provide both organization and decoration for your home. They can hold your beautiful accessories, books, vases, etc. and keep them in place and in order. They give a practical purpose to the items in your home and are a great addition to any room.
No matter how big or small your house is, keeping things organized will definitely make things easier on you. It keeps your home clutter-free and tidy. So choose any of these hacks and tips the next time you organize your home so that every space can be maximized.
