The 30-Day Cleaning Challenge

Almost everyone has a desire to have a clean space. And while we want to make sure everything is nice and tidy, sometimes we simply lack the motivation, or we don’t know where to start. So you can apply these easy tips to any or all rooms of your house! This 30 day cleaning challenge will help you achieve top-notch spotlessness in under a month!

Everywhere

Day 1: Get rid of all the trash! Sometimes we pile stuff up without even realizing it. Avoid leaving soda cans on the counters, or plastic wrappers on the coffee table. It makes everything cluttered.

Day 2: Vacuum. The carpets in our home gather so much dirt and so many particles go unnoticed, especially if there are pets involved. Try sprinkling some carpet freshener, and vacuum away.

Day 3: Dust. After vacuuming, all of the dirt and dust mentioned above will cling to your surfaces. If you want a polished look to your home, remove the dust from the surfaces as well.

Day 4: Spray your furniture with fabric freshener. Smells start to cling onto fabric, and sometimes they’re not very pleasant. Get your home smelling better by simply spraying down your furniture.

Day 5: Scrub any cupboards. It’s insane how much bacteria and residue builds up on cupboards!

Day 6: Clean your door handles. Yes, your door handles develop an extreme amount of bacteria over time. If you want to have a squeaky clean house, then don’t overlook this detail.

Day 7: Clean out any holding containers. This includes toothbrush holders, q tip containers, spatula holders, knife holders, etc. A toothbrush holder stores over 90% of the bacteria in your bathroom!

Day 8: Clean the windows. Windows get rained on, hit with things, and smudged. Go outside and spray your windows down. And clean the windowsill while you’re at it! When guests come over, you want them to see that your house is groomed and looking neat from the outside as well.

Day 9: Sweep your porch or patio. As mentioned before, it’s good to keep the outside of the house looking appealing to visitors. Get a broom and sweep away dirt, leaves, or grass.

Day 10: Wipe down plastic, wood, or metal chairs inside and outside. These build up a lot of dirt, especially outside. It’s very easy to overlook!

Day 11: Sweep the ceiling for cobwebs or dust buildup. Sometimes we overlook how much dust builds up on the ceiling, so get a broom and get rid of the gunk up there!

Day 12: Take apart your cushions and clean the couches and chairs. Everyone knows how much random stuff you find whenever you clean under the cushions in your house. Give it a go!

Day 13: Clean out and organize any closets. A lot of the time, we just throw things in our closets like shoes, coats, and belts. If there’s clutter on the floor, find a place for it so your closet is organized. It makes everything easier to locate!

Day 14: Sweep and mop the floors. This is also a given. It’s good to give your floors a deep sweep and mop once a month for the stuff you may have overlooked.

Day 15: Clean out under the sinks. Most sinks have an underneath cupboard. Most people also like to store things under there like chemicals, cleaners, etc. Take everything out and wipe it all down!

Day 16: Clean out any drawers. A much larger task than the others, as there’s usually plenty of drawers all over the house. Like everything else, dirt builds up in those!

Day 17: Disinfect any remotes. Random? Yes. It’s worth it, though. Like the door handle, remotes get touched by lots of people. It’s not a bad idea to start new and get rid of the germs!

Day 18: Wash all curtains. Some kinds of curtains aren’t washable. For the ones in the house that are though, just carefully read the instructions and freshen up the room with a nice set of clean curtains.

Laundry Room

Day 19: Fold all the laundry and put it away. You might as well throw away any mismatched socks while you’re at it to avoid unnecessary clutter.

Day 20: Clean out the washer and dryer. The washer and dryer collect so much dirt and debris. It goes a long way to clean them every once in awhile to be sure you’re not throwing your dirty clothes into an even dirtier machine.

Kitchen

Day 21: Clean out the refrigerator. Take everything out and wipe it down. Throw all of the spoiled or useless food out. Our fridges are also a large source of bacteria. And that’s where a large part of our food supply comes from, so it’s important to keep it clean!

Day 22: Scrub the dishwasher. You’d figure the dishwasher would clean itself, right? Well after awhile, the dirty water accumulates and leaves plenty of residue on the inside of the dishwasher. All it takes is some bleach and a rag, and it’s fresh for a new load!

Day 23: Clean the burners and the inside of your stove. This task isn’t as easy, as it usually requires heavy duty gloves and intense cleaners. The stove collects a lot of burnt food. It only needs to be done once in a while, so taking care of it during this cleaning challenge is a good idea!

Day 24: Organize the kitchen table. Some people don’t keep anything on their tables. If that’s the case, wipe it down! However, a few of us are guilty of leaving random things on our kitchen table. If you’re one of those people, remove everything that doesn’t belong there and then wipe it down!

Day 25: Scrub down the microwave. Microwaves get nasty, and everyone knows that. Food spills and splatters everywhere. All you need is a wet rag, and your microwave will be spick and span!

Day 26: Clean underneath the toaster and/or other small appliances. The toaster accumulates a lot of crumbs underneath. It’ll do the kitchen well to get rid of that extra mess! The same goes for other small cooking appliances.

Bedroom

Day 27: Wash all bed sheets. This one is a given, as we should wash our sheets at least once a month. The place you sleep in should be comfortable and clean.

Day 28: Clean out from under the bed. Some people don’t put anything under their bed, or their bed isn’t on a frame. However, if you’re guilty of stashing random things in that area, dive under there and get rid of the unnecessary belongings.

Bathroom

Day 29: Scrub the toilet, bathtub, and sinks. Toilets and bathtubs are very important to keep clean. If left unattended, it can become a health hazard. As for the sinks, clean them out and scrub the drains.

Day 30: Wipe down the mirror. You want to be able to see yourself clearly! Get a fresh look at yourself every morning with a crystal clear mirror!
