7 Wonderful Things to Do When Visiting Paris

Paris is on the travel bucket list for thousands of people and for a good reason. And so we decided to list out seven of the best places to visit in the City of Love and Lights. So check them out and let us know what you think!

The Louvre

Art aficionados will not want to miss The Louvre, which is the world’s largest art museum. With a royal pedigree, this museum was once home to kings, but during the French Revolution, it was converted into a museum. You can easily spend an entire day at the Louvre, but if you’re pressed for time, you can take an hour or two to see the Mona Lisa and a few of the other famous pieces there.

Champs-Elysees

One of the most well-known streets, the Champs-Elysees is home to the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde. While walking along the Champs-Elysees you can stop and shop at the many patisseries and try some French macarons.

Cruise on the Seine

An enjoyable tour via boat on the Seine will give you the opportunity to see Paris from a new point of view. You will be up close and personal to the beautiful bridges that cross over the Seine. Tours can range between two to four hours and some boat tours provide dinner and drinks.

Luxembourg Gardens

The Luxembourg Gardens are a great place for the family to visit. It is home to the city’s oldest merry-go-round, has enclosed playgrounds for the kids, and offers entertaining puppet shows sure to be a crowd pleaser. You can take a picnic and spend the day enjoying the beauty of the gardens. You can also visit the Musée de Luxembourg while you’re there.

Notre Dame

One of the oldest cathedrals in the world, Notre Dame is recognized for its beautiful stained glass windows, gothic style architecture, and a view that will take your breath away.  While you are in the area, try some of the local restaurants that serve delicious crepes.

Latin Quarter

For the book lovers, the Latin Quarter is a must-see as it is filled with bookshops, including the most famous, Shakespeare & Company. There are also various cafes where you can enjoy a French Press coffee and a croissant. And for the family, a trip to the National Museum of Natural History and the botanical gardens.

Palace of Versailles

From 1682 to 1789, the Palace of Versailles was home to King Louis XIV. The Palace was originally constructed by his father King Louis XIII as a hunting lodge, but his son decided to transform this hunting lodge into a symbol of power in the French government.
