Walk Through the Barcino Ruins

Long before Barcelona was the city it is now, it belonged to the Roman Empire and was called Barcino. Now you can walk through the underground ruins at the Barcelona History Museum where you’ll be able to immerse yourself in what life might have been like in Barcino.

Park Güell

Park Güell is home to the famous mosaic lizard which was a collaboration between Güell and Gaudi. Entrance to the park costs 10 Euros, but you can also buy a Barcelona City Pass for 91 Euros which includes the opportunity to visit Park Güell and other famous landmarks.

L’acquarium Barcelona

A perfect attraction for families, a visit to L’acquarium Barcelona will provide hours of entertainment. Activities at L’acquarium Barcelona include diving with sharks, visiting the penguins, and piranhas. There are also opportunities to feed some of the water dwelling residents.

Casa Batlló

This beautifully designed home was opened to the public in 1995 and is a must visit for any guest to Barcelona. Gaudi’s inspiration can be seen all over this house. From the doorknobs to the walls, every detail was chosen by Gaudi himself. Families can also take advantage of this activity by bringing their little ones aged 7 or younger for free.

La Sagrada Familia

Standing out from the crowd is La Sagrada Familia Basílica. Stunning and awe inspiring, it really is an incredible place to visit.

Basílica is still a work in progress and is not set to be finished until 2026, for the 100th anniversary of Gaudi´s death.  To beat the lines, you can purchase tickets online and save time.

La Pedrera

Requested to be built by Gaudi in 1905, La Pedrera, or Casa Mila, caused a lot of commotion for its unique architecture, and was even made fun of after its completion in 1912. It was opened to the public in 1996 and now stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Picasso Museum

This museum is home to one of Picasso’s most important collections. You’ll be able to see his early childhood drawings and his progression as he becomes the master of cubism, surrealism, and expressionism. It is recommended to visit the museum during the weekday mornings as it can get quite busy.

Tibidabo

An amusement park full of old school amusement rides, Tibidabo is located on top of a mountain and serves as Spain’s oldest amusement park. You can take the last remaining tram car up the mountain and enjoy the views. This is an excellent place to visit that includes fun for the entire family.

Beach Day

Take advantage of Barcelona’s beautiful beaches and spend a day at the San Sebastià Beach. This is one of the oldest beaches in Barcelona and is a great way to soak up the sun and have a fun.

Casa Vicens

Casa Vicens is one of Gaudi’s first commissioned works and was built between 1883 to 1885 and was requested by the Vicens family. Now you can see for yourself where Gaudi expressed and revealed his genius for the first time.

  1. Make sure you get those tickets in advance. I was surprised how everything sold out days in advance. I’m kicking myself because I wasn’t able to get into the Picasso museum.
