Most of us know which foods are healthy and which aren’t. However, sometimes food that is good for you can also make you pile on the pounds if eaten in excess. They may have benefits to your body, but if your goal is to lose or maintain a certain weight, then it may be worth looking for some different options.
Quick Tip
If you want to add something to your drinks and food that keeps your skin looking younger, repairs your body (after working out), AND gives you energy throughout the day, then I would seriously recommend collagen protein powder which you can check out here.
ALSO, this brand is specifically great since it’s flavorless (which is awesome since I hate adding things that make my favorite drinks and food taste horrible). So I would definitely check it out here and see how you feel and look after using it for a little while.
Brown Rice
Rice is thought to be extremely healthy, particularly brown rice. However, if you’re not properly portioning out the brown rice and you eat it frequently, it can be an easy way to gain weight.
Dried Fruit
Fruit is obviously good for us, containing lots of essential vitamins. And dried fruit can also be a great on-the-go snack. Yet eating this by the handful may make you gain weight, rather than lose it. So if weight gain is your goal then these could be a great choice, but otherwise, stick to low-calorie snacks.
Nuts
Nuts are another form of great on-the-go snacks, but they do differ from each other. And while some are great for weight loss, others, such as peanuts, will do you more harm than good. They are dense in calories and will make you gain weight if you have them in excess.
Red Meat
Red meat is delicious, we won’t deny that. Yet it may be stopping you from losing weight. But lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, or fish, are much better for weight loss as they have fewer calories.
Salmon
Salmon is full of healthy fats that are good for you, but it will also make you gain weight if you eat too much of it. High in calories, as well as fat, salmon is best left for those who want to turn fat into muscle, or to gain weight.
Granola Bars
Granola and other forms of breakfast bars can be good for people who don’t have time in the morning for a sit-down breakfast. They look healthy, often containing fruits, but are actually extremely high in calories for how small they are. You may be better off with a piece of fruit or making time for a proper breakfast the night before.
Avocado
Avocado can be really good for you; they contain healthy fats and can be used in a variety of recipes. And while they have a lot of nutrients, they also have a lot of calories. For some diets, such as keto, this is great, however, it also means that they will take up a big amount of your daily calorie allotment, and this can lead to weight gain.
Sandwich Wraps
You may feel like you’ve made a healthy choice opting for tortillas over normal bread, but I’m afraid to say that this is not the case. Some wraps can contain more calories than a couple of slices of white bread, even though they’re very thin. And this may ultimately cause you to gain weight.
Make sure to take note of these foods and you’ll start to see the pounds drop as you cut them out or cut them down!
