Having a clean home doesn’t mean you need to spend every waking hour on your knees scrubbing the floors. And by adopting some helpful habits, you can cut down on the amount of time it takes you to clean and get yourself into a good routine for any future housework.
Make Your Bed
If you can get up in the morning and make your bed, then the day is already off to a good start. This means that, within the first few minutes of getting up, you already have one chore complete.
A made bed can also make the room look a lot tidier, which may help to put you in a positive mindset for the day ahead.
Wipe as You Go
This habit is fairly simple. It doesn’t matter if you spilled water in the bathroom, knocked over a glass on the dining table, or dirtied the kitchen counter while making dinner. The rule here is always the same, to clean it up as you go along.
Put Laundry Away
It can be so tempting to leave laundry lying around. You might want to just leave it on the floor, rather than putting it in the hamper. Or perhaps you struggle with moving it from the hamper to the machine. And for most people, the worst culprit is putting away clean clothes once they’re dry.
But regardless of the stage of your laundry, it is imperative that it is done immediately, so that your home looks, and feels a lot better.
Break it Down
Rather than spending a full day scrubbing and cleaning, you might find it easier to break your cleaning down. Doing a little bit each day can make it feel like less of a giant task. You could do vacuuming one day, cleaning the bathrooms a different day, and mopping another. By not overworking yourself, you may also be more likely to stick with a routine.
Don’t Forget the Fridge
It can be easy, when cleaning the rest of your home, to forget to look at your refrigerator. A lot of bacteria and debris can gather there, especially if food has gone bad. And people with a clean home know that it is important to clean the fridge shelves on a weekly basis, and to always get rid of food that is past its best by date.
Clean Your Tools
Cleaning your home only works if the tools themselves are clean. Vacuum cleaners should be emptied regularly, and cleaning and dusting cloths should be washed after each use. This way, your home will actually be clean, rather than the dirt being transferred around.
Having a clean home doesn’t need to be too time-consuming. And by getting yourself into a good routine, you may find it quicker and easier to this. So give these tips a try!
