Take into account your debt and what you owe. The writer of this post had $36,000 in student loan debt. And before traveling she set aside enough money to make payments for a whole year (she also shows her whole financial plan she had set up before leaving… if you need an example), it’s so important to take into account what payments (like a car payment) you need to get rid of and how you’ll pay for others. Now for those of you who are tight on cash, this is a great post to read. In one of his tips, he gives a list of jobs you can work while traveling abroad. Jobs like being a hostel worker (which I’ve considered since it’s actually a really fun job), cruise ship worker, waitress/waiter, or even a tour guide. I would also suggest looking into English teaching since many countries will pay you well and cover travel costs for you to come and teach. So if this is the route you want to take, then do some research and read more on his travel tips!
