It feels like our lives are surrounded by small (and big) items that might be harming us.
And it’s a little overwhelming.
I’ve recently started to get interested in finding things in my home that were toxic since I’ve really started taking better care of my health, and doing things that would benefit it in the long run.
So when I found that there were toxic things I was taking in or using that were a part of my every day life, it actually shocked me.
And this shock led to me wanting to share some items with you that you might want to get rid of as well.
So, here’s a small and simple list to help you out in also getting rid of toxins in your life. 🙂
- Tea Bags: It seems that many tea bags have two things wrong with them. One, they’re made with plastics as shown in this study. Two, they’re whitened with bleach (study ). Now I haven’t had all of these tea brands, but from some quick research, here are some brands that are toxin free: Pique, Traditional Medicinals, Numi Organic Tea, and Earth Mama.
- Tampons and Pads:Â Studies are showing that the toxins in certain femenine products are actually harming our bodies. So at the moment, I’m using Natracare which is an all natural non-toxic brand.
- Air Fresheners: Apparently some air fresheners can hurt and mess with your hormones and reproductive health, as told by the Natural Resources Defense Counsel. Â So I think it’s a good idea to find natural solutions to making your home smell good. These could be toxin-free scented candles and air and fabric spray bottles.
- Antibacterial soaps: According to the FDA. you can just forget about antibacterial soaps. I feel like this ones is very strange; you use it to eliminate one thing that is bad for your body, but you’re still doing harm to your body. So this year, I’ll probably start using non-toxic bar soap or other brands such as Dr. Bronner’s.
I plan on adding more to this small and simple list, but I think it’s very important to start thinking and talking about the things that could be harming us.
It’s so easy to feel like you’re safe when you see these big brands with their high budget commercials advertising products that make our lives a bit easier and better.
But thankfully, with just a bit of research, we can quickly start to pair down how much we use these items, and what we can use instead.
PS – What’s a product you recently found to have toxins?
Chasing Foxes was started in 2016 as a way for Grace and her husband, Silas, to start traveling. However, they started to realize that they had a passion for improving themselves, and wanted to help others level up their lives as well. So whether it's with cooking, travel, or staying healthy, they want to help you better your life bit by bit, as they do the same.
