Sometimes it’s the things around the house that we don’t realize could save us from a few headaches. I mean we’re all trying to find the best way to get our home clean or get more organized. So why spend a whole lot of money on expensive cleaners and helpful products when you could just use the things you already have?
Down below I found some awesome ideas from lists down by great bloggers like One Crazy House. I love sharing great finds and then linking back to their list so you guys can get even more ideas than just the ones I already have. So check out the tips and tricks below so you can make use of the awesome things around your house.
Paper Rolls – Cord Organizer
Found from One Crazy House: See Source Below
We use hundreds of them in a year (I’m assuming), so why not make use of paper rolls instead of throwing them away? If you have a lot of cords in your house that are just lying around, make use of some decorated paper rolls and store them inside so they can be tangle free and easy to grab!
Olive Oil – Natural Wood Cleaner
Found from The Pistachio Project: See source Below
If you want to clean your wood and make it shiny and looking as good as new, then try rubbing it down with olive oil. However, if you want a longer lasting fix, then try olive oil, white vinegar, and water.
Baking Soda – Couch Cleaner
Found from How She Does: See Source Below
If you want to make the upholstery on your couches clean and lighter again, try sprinkling baking soda (Yep, that’s right. The stuff you make pancakes with.) on it, leave for a bit, and then vacuum away. It’s as simple as that.
Vaseline – Fix Shoe Scuffs
Found from One Crazy House: See Source Below
If you think that vaseline is just for chapped lips and rashes, then think again (maybe?)! Applying vaseline (petroleum jelly) on patent leather shoes with a q-tip will help take care of any scuffs.
Lemon – Get Rid of Water Stains
Found from Craftionary: See Source Below
If you want to make places like your bath nozzles and handles look extra clean and shiny, then try rubbing them down with lemon to get rid of the water stains.
Tin Foil – Funnel
Found from Reynold’s Kitchens: See Source Below
If you’d rather save a little bit of money and be a little crafty, then I’d suggest using foil as a funnel for any small mouthed bottle or jar.
Wax Paper – Shine Chrome Faucets
Found from One Crazy House: See Source Below
If you’d like an easy and lazy way to clean your chrome faucets (or anything else that’s made with chrome), then try wiping it down with wax paper. It’s a great way to save some money and get the job done fast.
There are so many items around the house that we can use to save money, we just have to get creative. And whether that’s using plastic wrap to help bananas not spoil or tin foil to catch grease, it’s all up to you on how you want to use them.
Now if you have any helpful home hacks yourself, let me know in the comments down below! I’d love to hear about them!

Chasing Foxes was started in 2016 as a way for Grace and her husband, Silas, to start traveling. However, they started to realize that they had a passion for improving themselves, and wanted to help others level up their lives as well. So whether it's with cooking, travel, or staying healthy, they want to help you better your life bit by bit, as they do the same.
I love these creative ideas. Y’all are awesome, thank you!
I like the funnel idea but I use a 2 liter bottle cut in half and vinegar works to get rid of hard water stains. Kleenex boxes are great to store plastic bags in,just remove them like you would a tissue!
Thanks for sharing Sherrie! 🙂
