Tabs and Flags
One of the easiest and most creative ways to keep track of your frequently used pages in your journal is by adding tabs and flags. To make one, all you need to have is a small envelope and washi tapes. Cut one corner edge of the envelope and add some washi tapes for decorations. Insert the tab on your page and never miss it again. Doing this will save you so much time and effort.
Thread Additional Page
It may sound overrated and intimidating, but seriously even if you’re a newbie or just not so crafty, threading an additional page to your journal is an easy trick. You’ll prolong your journal’s life as well as save money. You can also do the same for some of your notebooks, paper files, and even books. By threading, you can make sure that it’s intact and lasts longer.
Washi Tape
Washi tape is such a great way to highlight and bookmark certain parts in your bullet journals. They’re cute and adorable decorations that’er super cheap. And the design they have, it’s a lot to choose from. From black to cute patterns, they’ve got you covered.
So why not grab some and place them in the corner or along the edge of your pages and fold them over. They create an instant bookmark and get the job done. Try to use color coding for your everyday task and use the washi tapes for different occasions.
Add a Sticky Note
Calling all sticky note lovers! Here’s a tip that you’ll love. All you need to do is make a layer of post-it notes on the back page of your journal to keep them with you on the go. Wherever you are, you’ll have a stash of sticky notes stored. And when you need to write reminders or a quick note, you can quickly get one and stick it to your page or put it on your fridge. Now you don’t have to rip out a page out or take up needed space in your journal!
Tape a Small Envelope
If you want extra storage for things like receipts, calling cards, tickets, autumn leaves or memo notes in your journal, you might want to consider putting a small envelope in your bullet journal. You choose what kind, what color, and how thick the envelope is. You can be unique and add designs to your storage. Why not doodle or tape in some washi tape? Put your imagination to the test and unleash your creativity.
Use Colored Pens to Code
It’s always a great idea to use multiple colors to highlight your journal’s content. They add visual aesthetic and at the same time make it easier for you to find your subject or task. Try to assign each category a corresponding color and stick to it throughout the journal. For example, with a monthly task, decide a specific color for each month and use it whenever you need to write it down. The color will serve as a guide for you to save time in looking through your notes and make it consistent throughout your journal.
How to Never Lose Your Pen
Usually, bullet journals always come with a rubber elastic binding cover that keeps your book in place. Why not sling it diagonally over a corner instead of the entire length of your journal instead so you can clip pens to it for journaling on the go? You’ll never misplace your pens again!
Cut Out Marks
Another hack to easily find your frequently used page is by cutting out marks on the bottom of the page. A simple triangle cut below can make it easier for you to categorize and quickly flip to your desired destination. Consider using different cut out shapes to classify each page you want easy access to. It can be a triangle for your to-do list, a rectangle for your budget and square for your monthly habit tracker.
It’s a neat method that makes a unique bookmark without needing much time and effort.
DIY Journal Cover
Tired of having a plain and simple bullet journal cover? Then try this idea! Start by covering your journals front and back with pretty papers. You can also add photos or use a solid color so you can write or draw on it yourself! It’ll show your personality and make it stand out from the others. Once you’re done, get a plastic cover for your journal. This will keep your book protected from accidental liquid splatters and dirt.
