Measuring your ring size isn’t intimidating (I promise!).

Actually, it’s pretty simple.

And whether you want to know your rings size because…

  • Your boyfriend should know what it is (just in case).
  • You wanna get rings that aren’t just for your ring finger.
  • You want to add more jewelry pieces to your look but don’t wanna waste money.

Knowing the size can be super helpful!

And if you want to make the process easier and quickly know your measurements, then here are some super easy ways to figure it out at home!

More Great Styling Tips and Advice:

1. Use a Ring Sizer App

Probably the most simple way to measure your ring size, so I’m gonna show you this option first!

Here’s how to use a ring size app using one of your rings:

  1. First, quickly download a free app like RingSizer.
  2. Grab a ring that already fits you.
  3. Place your ring in the spot with the circle.
  4. Adjust the size of the circle until it aligns with your ring.
  5. Click the button that says “Show the ring size.”

How to use the same ring size app using one of your fingers:

  1. Tap on the “By finger” option.
  2. Place your finger on the finger measurement space.
  3. Adjust the size until it fits your finger.
  4. Click on the button that says, “Show the ring size.”

2. Order a Free Ring Sizer

Another simple option is to go onto a jewelry website like Blue Nile and order their free ring sizer here.

It’s pretty simple and you don’t even need to give them your card information!

3. Measure With a Piece of Paper

This one’s also pretty easy!

Here’s how to measure with a piece of paper:

  1. You’ll wanna grab a piece of paper, pen, and a ruler.
  2. Then measure and mark down 6 inches in length and a 1/4 of an inch in width.
  3. Cut it out.
  4. Once it’s cut, wrap it around your finger and mark with with a pen where it overlaps.
  5. Lastly, measure from the bottom of the paper to the mark you made and use a ring sizing chart like this one to find your size. That’s it!

4. Tape a Measuring Tape to Your Finger

Another great option is to just grab a measuring tape and either hold it to your finger or tape it on.

Then wrap it around your finger and take note of where it overlaps. And once you have the measurement, you can just check a sizing chart and get your size.

5. Measuring with a Shoelace or String

Very similar to the others, but if you happen to have these items easily on hand, then this option is for you!

Here are the quick steps for measuring your finger with a shoelace or string:

  • Take either the string or shoelace and wrap it around your finger.
  • Then with a marker or pen, mark where it overlaps.
  • Next, take a ruler and measure it from the end of the shoelace or string to where you marked it.
  • Finally, use a ring sizing chart and find your size.

6. Put Your Ring on a Ring Sizing Chart

If you already have a ring that fits your finger perfectly, go ahead and print out a ring sizing chart (like the one I linked to above) and start placing it over the different sizes.

Once you see one that works with it, write it in your notes app (or something similar) before heading to the store.

Pro Ring Sizing Tips

  • Test for comfort: Make sure it fits comfortably on your finger. So not too loose that it’ll fall off, but enough that it can be taken off easily. And not too tight that it hurts, but enough so that it’ll stay on.
  • Keep measurements for all fingers: Measure all of your fingers and keep the measurements saved in a place like your phone’s notes app. It’s an easy way to have access to your measurements since not every finger is going to be the exact same size.
  • Try measuring more than once: A great way to make sure that there are no mistakes is to measure at least 2-3 times so that you know you have the right size.
  • Take note of your knuckles: Make sure to order half a size bigger if you know that your knuckles are a bigger size.
  • Don’t measure your fingers when they’re really hot or really cold: Whether it’s the weather or maybe you were handling something with a more extreme temperature, make sure you’re measuring your fingers when it’s at a normal and comfortable temp.
  • Think about measuring them throughout the day: Depending on the weather or other conditions, I think it’s best to even try measuring your fingers throughout the day. That way you can know that you know you have the right ring size. 👍

How do I find out my girlfriend’s ring size without asking?

Figuring out your girlfriend’s ring size without her knowing isn’t hard!

Here are 6 ways to secretly measure her ring size:

  1. Measure One of Her Rings: Get one of her rings she often wears and measure it with an app like RingSizer.
  2. Buy a Bigger Ring: Buy a ring that’s just a bit bigger than her finger. It can always be sized down later! Resizing a ring bigger is harder than resizing it down. 🤷‍♀️ Also as a quick note, the average women’s ring size range is 5-7.
  3. Ask a Family Member: Chances are, someone like her mom or sister might just know! So go ahead and ask, but make sure they know it’s a secret. 👌
  4. Gift Her a Ring for Another Occassion: Whether it’s for her birthday, a special event, or a holiday, take her to a shop to get her finger measured. Pretty simple!
  5. Check for a Ring Size in the Ring: Sometimes a ring will already have the size shown on the inside of the band, so it’s worth looking!
  6. Ask a Friend to Take Her Window Shopping: If you’re close to any of her friends, ask one of them to just take her window shopping. So maybe that friend might just “casually” wonder into a jewelry shop at the mall and look at rings. Then she can see a ring she likes which will prompt her to get her finger sized and encourage your girlfriend to do it too (for fun of course).

Learning how to measure your ring size at home can sound a bit intimidating, but I hope this quick guide made it a lot simpler for you!

Also, there are so many different parts to your personal style, so if you can get more specific with measurements and sizings, the more sharp you’re gonna look.

But thankfully, this is one of the easier things to check!
